A frustration button for your Mac

The emergency stop button for your workday.

Build failed. Pointless meeting. “Quick call?” Instead of screaming into the void, press the button. Fuck This logs the moment in under a second, then tells you on Friday what's actually ruining your week.

The demo

39 seconds.
No meetings were harmed.

Deadpan narration, the app's own THUNK, and one very honest Friday report.

How it works

Logging takes one second.
Analysis comes later.

Something annoying happens.

It will. It always does. Usually around 14:00.

⌥⇧F
02

Hit it. THUNK.

From any app. It doesn't steal focus from your IDE. Or click the F! in your menu bar.

Friday: the truth.

A weekly report of what broke you. Shareable. Or for your therapist.

The Fuck This menu bar panel: a big red button with today, week and total counters.
The menu bar panel. Button first, everything else second.
The Fuck This dashboard: week chart, top triggers, counters.
The dashboard: your chaos, charted. Hover a day for the verdict: “Tuesday was catastrophic.”
What's inside

Small app.
Surprisingly useful data.

🕵️

It knows who did it.

Remembers which app you were in when you pressed it. Just the name. Slack will not like what it finds.

Tag it. Or don't.

Trigger chips appear for three seconds. Ignore them and nothing happens. Add your own: 🤡 Jira.

Danger zone.

14:00 – 15:00. Apparently nothing good happens after lunch.

🏆

Achievements. Sort of.

Monday Survivor. It Works On My Machine. This Is Fine. And, eventually, One Thousand Fucks Given.

Pick your THUNK.

Six original sounds, synthesized by the app. Click to preview; the big button uses your pick.

Hook it to anything.

Shortcuts, Raycast, a Stream Deck, or a suspicious ESP32 desk button.

The Friday Report

Every Friday at 16:00, the truth.

A beautiful, slightly judgmental poster of your week. Export it as an image, post it in #general, and watch your team relate a little too hard.

  • Meetings accounted for 38% of this week's suffering.
  • Slack was involved in 11 of them. Just saying.
  • 23% less bullshit than last week. Growth.
  • Case of the Mondays: confirmed.
Your frustration is your business.(=ㅇᆽㅇ=)
Privacy

Stays on your Mac. Full stop.

  • ✓ No account. No cloud. No telemetry.
  • ✓ Your incidents never leave your Mac. The app only goes online to check for updates (if you let it) and to activate Pro.
  • ✓ Knows: the time, the app's name, and the tag and note you add.
  • ✗ Never: window titles, URLs, screenshots, emails or messages.
  • ✓ Export to CSV or erase everything, anytime.
FAQ

Questions, answered.
Mostly.

Is the name really necessary?

Yes. We tried “Mild Inconvenience Logger”. Nobody pressed it.

How much does it cost?

The app is free. Pro adds 10 more button skins, 7 Friday Report themes, 10 sounds and 20 achievements for a one-time $4.99. No subscription. The meetings are what cost you.

Will my boss see this?

Only if you export the Friday Report and post it in #general. Which, honestly, you should.

Does it need special permissions?

No Accessibility access, no screen recording. The global shortcut uses a standard macOS hotkey API, and ⌥⇧F can be changed in Settings.

Is it safe to install?

Yes. It's signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other app, and updates arrive signed too. If the F! icon doesn't show up in a crowded menu bar, allow it under System Settings → Menu Bar. ⌥⇧F works either way.

Is there a physical button?

Not yet. But fuckthis://log works with anything that can open a URL. ESP32 people: you know what to do.

Go on.
Press it.

Annoyed → hit button → satisfying THUNK → back to work.
